the abobo project

STEM & ENGLISH COURSES FOR KIDS

Abobo, a neighborhood in Côte d’Ivoire, is marked by high crime rates, limited educational resources, and significant social vulnerability. Often stigmatized, the area’s youth face heightened risks of exclusion, poverty, and delinquency. Many children grow up in underdeveloped, slum-like conditions and attend schools that are overstretched, under-resourced, and unable to meet their needs.

This program is dedicated to creating a safe, dynamic, and inclusive learning environment for the children of Abobo. Our goal is to offer them sustainable pathways to rise above their circumstances through quality education, mentorship, and life-enriching opportunities.

For the past two years, our organization has partnered with Ecole Primaire Sadjro Danho, a public elementary school in the heart of Abobo. We currently offer free English classes twice a week using interactive, student-centered methods that build confidence and participation. More than 70 children attend regularly—over 75% of them girls, many of whom say it is the highlight of their week.

Recently, the school entrusted us with a 1,000-square-foot room, which we repainted and transformed into a library and learning center. The day we opened the doors, several students gasped as they saw bookshelves, bright colors, and clean desks for the first time. This new space has already allowed us to welcome more children and create a learning environment that inspires pride and curiosity.

Our next goal is to raise $13,000 to equip the library with laptops, provide an internet connection, and cover the salary of a robotics instructor for one year. This will allow the children—especially the girls—to be introduced to technology for the first time and gain essential digital skills that can transform their future opportunities.
